It all began with a knicker making course. I sat quaking in front of the sewing machine feeling out of my depth and remembering the textile classes at school that I hated, and then I started to sew. I came away from that class on an high with a badly made pair of knickers and a huge sense of achievement. That night I signed up for the next dressmaking course and a week later bought my first sewing machine.
5 months later and I can safely say sewing has changed my life. I've finally found the creative outlet I've been searching for over the past 10 years. I've tried painting, drawing, sculpture and although I've loved all of them I find it hard to motivate myself outside of classes. Not so with sewing, I wait for the weekends when I can spend the entire day sewing, I read sewing blogs every day, I can safely say I'm completely and utterly obsessed. I'm starting this blog to chart my development from novice sewist to well, we'll see...
